October · Four weeks
CybersecurityAwarenessMonth
A four-week campaign for school communities. Each week brings one habit anyone can try. One small habit each week.
Español1Why it matters
Try it at your desk
Identify your district's reporting channel and save the known support contact. Practice verifying one unexpected payment or login request using a separate channel. Agree with your team that urgency never overrides verification. A legitimate sender should accept a brief check before staff disclose information or approve a change.
Review one setting together
Choose a non-school account and review its privacy, location sharing, recovery and connected-app settings with the account holder. Talk about what should be visible to strangers. Ask the school where to report a lost device, account problem or suspected disclosure. Repeat the conversation at school-year transitions as devices, responsibilities and online interests change.
2Do this
- Week 1Unique passwords and login protection
Try this: turn on MFA for one account and deny any prompt you did not start.
- Week 2Pause, verify and report
Try this: save your school's reporting contact where you can find it fast.
- Week 3Privacy, respectful sharing, tools
Try this: check who can see one file or profile before you share it.
- Week 4Device care and a practiced help plan
Try this: name two people you would ask for help, then restart for updates.
Every week- Learn one habit
- Try it once
- Share the tip
Missed a week? Start where you are. Each week stands on its own, and the habits fit any month of the school year.
